If I try to manually install them (update driver in the control panel) I get a message saying that I already have the best drivers, and the the.

Don't appreciate you using my words to further your agenda.*For Everyone Else*: Download your drivers from the manufacturer like God intended.
- Sonoralivitupdan Jan 16, 2017 at 04:49pmLike heatherlightfoot, I also got an error on the recurse command. I did use a semi colon. Error code was 0x80010105. DISM failed. No operation was performed.I'm on an HP laptop with Win 10, making this USB for a HP ProDesktop Mini 400 G2 that had 10 Pro, but putting 7 Pro on it. I downloaded 4 different USB drivers from HP's site, which are .exe files.
- Poblanopalehmkuhl Jan 16, 2017 at 04:52pmSent PM. If I find the fix, I'll explain what I did here.
- Poblanopalehmkuhl Jan 16, 2017 at 06:16pmWhen using the following command:
dism /image:mount /add-driver:'USB' /recurseDISM is searching for valid .INF/driver files that it can use to load into the wim file.In livitupdan's case, the files inside of his 'USB' folder were .EXE's. DISM doesn't know how to process those files, so it kicks the 0x80010105 error at you which basically means that it couldn't find any driver packages. Dan needed to run and extract the .EXE's back into the 'USB' folder. Once completed, he reran the commands and was successful. - Sonoralivitupdan Jan 16, 2017 at 07:12pmHe is correct. All fixed, and worked perfectly to plan. Windows 7 Pro has installed, and doing the 200 some odd updates now. Thanks again!
- Pimientojozefmrkva Jan 18, 2017 at 11:00amHey, great manual, everything went smooth until I tried to install win 7 on a HP pavilion 550 desktop and couldn't get keyboard and mouse to work. This is the whole reason I tried your method but adding USB drivers to Win 7 installation did not help. Any other suggestions? Thanks
- PimientoJason6729 Jan 18, 2017 at 10:58pmThanks for the great read! I'm installing Server 2008 r2 on 7710's as well. Did you happen to run into any issues with getting the base installer to recognize the internal drives? I've got 3 ssd's in raid 5 and I still can't get it to detect them after slipstreaming the drivers in the manner you've written up. I've tried using both the 7 and 8.1 drivers that are available from Dell's repository but have yet to have any luck.
- Poblanopalehmkuhl Jan 18, 2017 at 11:07pm@jozefmrkva - All computers should have base drivers for mouse/keyboard. I honestly couldn't tell you why it isn't detecting these. Can you get into the BIOS and does it detect the keyboard; or mouse if it is GUI based?Jason6729 - If it's related to SSD's it could be a combination of the driver that you are attempting to use. Is it a hardware RAID or software? I know certain NVMe SSD's have issues using drivers for 7. Usually 8.1 and 10 don't have an issue locating these devices though. Curious why you're using those drivers instead of the ones for Server 2008 R2. Looking on Dell's website it doesn't say that you can install that OS on a precision laptop. Says it is compatible with 7, 8.1, 10, and Ubuntu. Maybe I am missing something?Source:

I have the same issue. I can install win 7 until it boots to create username then no keyboard or mouse but I did find this . Seems to be with other devices as well

There are both USB 2 and 3 on the MB but none of them works. I'm going to try and automate the installation process with MS AIK and see if that helps, otherwise I'm out of ideas..
- PimientoJason6729 Jan 19, 2017 at 05:31pm@palehmkuhl It's a hardware based raid. I'd use the right drivers for 2008 r2 but they don't seem to exist from what I can tell so I'm trying what's available. Personally, I wouldn't even put 2008 on here if I had the choice but it's in an enterprise environment and our techs want the ability to switch between W7, 2008r2, and 2012 at will. Granted, they didn't tell us the need for 2008 until well after we had purchased the devices for them..I'm getting around it for the time being by replacing one of the nvme drives with something a little less current. I'm hoping that if I install the OS to a vhd I can just transfer it over once 2008 is fully configured, updated, and containing working drivers.
- Poblanopalehmkuhl Jan 19, 2017 at 06:36pmYeah, I can say I've had a bit of trouble with the 7710's and taking the NVMe SSD's. Such a great SSD, just difficult to get the correct drivers implemented. Price we pay for trying to have the best.
- PimientoAnthony5728 Jan 31, 2017 at 01:56pmI just leveled up with this info. All my fututre imaging job will be done this way.. THANK YOU ✮✮✮✮✮
- Sonoratiamaxwell Jan 31, 2017 at 07:18pmyou can also use these methods to add update packages to the usb.
Download the update packages you want into the 'USB' folder. (following the set up already given)
Then the commands are as follows:
dism /mount-wim /wimfile:boot.wim /index:2 /mountdir:mount
(mounting the image)
dism /Image:mount /add-package /PackagePath:'USB'
(adding the packages in the USB folder. NOTE, you may want to use this command:
dism /Image:mount /add-package /PackagePath:'USB%april 2015 servicing pack%' then the other updates as they are dependent on that servicing pack)
dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:mount /commit
(Committing the changes to the .wim file)Then for install
dism /mount-wim /wimfile:install.wim /index:1 /mountdir:mount
dism /Image:mount /add-package /PackagePath:'USB'
(adding the packages in the USB folder. NOTE, you may want to use this command:
dism /Image:mount /add-package /PackagePath:'USB%april 2015 servicing pack%' then the other updates as they are dependent on that servicing pack)
dism /unmount-wim /mountdir:mount /commit
(Committing the changes to the .wim file)Then copy onto the usb. - Pimientovasilgospodinov Feb 9, 2017 at 11:16pmHello, i've got an issue during the 'dism /image:mount /add-driver:'USB' /recurse' command, everything was going fine before that and the following is the error i've got.

Looking forward for an answer for that.
Thanks in advance !
...... 2 hours later i got the solution by myself:
The solution is to try with other copy of windows, also after u've ran the commands for boot.wmi make another Drivers file in other location (not at desktop i did it on my D:/ drive), so there i copied the modified boot.wmi, made new 'mount' file and new USB file with the drivers in. After that just did step 7 from this tutorial. Dont know why but when i did it everything was okay. No matter how stupid it sounds :D
